Causes
An allergic reaction occurs when the body's immune system overreacts to an allergen, in this case a food protein. In order to develop the allergic reaction the body should meet at once with the chemical substance. At the first time when people consume the food causing problems, the body recognizes it as a danger. This treat situation activates the immune system which produces an antibody called immunoglobulin E or lgE. In case of consuming the food again liberating lot prefabricated lgE and other chemical compound (histamine). The aim of the body’s reaction is to eliminate the dangerous substances from the body. Histamine acts on various parts of the body, mainly the skin, airways, intestines and cardiovascular system.
Immune respond may result the appearing of allergic symptoms. The type of the symptoms depends on where the larger amounts of histamine release in the body. If on the nasal pharynx area it results runny and stuffy nose, itching in the throat, laryngeal oedema. If on the skin, hives and eczema may occur. If in the gastro-intestinal tract, abdominal pain, colic, vomiting and dierrhea can be the result of the symptoms. However, in most cases the symptoms often vary in one organ at the same time.
Food allergies often show family accumulation, which raises the possibility of genetic inheritance.
